Sponsored by the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society, Inc. (PPDSI) in 1996, the Philippine Board of Pediatric Dentistry (PBPD) continues to be recognized by the Professional Regulations Commission Board of Dentistry since 2011 as the only Pediatric Dentistry specialty board in the Philippines. The PBPD was given a PRC Board of Dentistry Accreditation No. 01-0304-2003. It also remains to be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as the specialty board to accredit pediatric dentistry specialists.
The PBPD awards Certificates to successful candidates conferring onto them the designation Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Mission
To assure the public and health professions that a dentist has successfully completed both an advanced educational program in Pediatric Dentistry and a voluntary examination process designed to validate knowledge, skills, and experience of the latter as requisite to the delivery of quality patient care and setting of globally recognized standards for training of Pediatric Dentistry.
Vision
To achieve excellence in the practice of Pediatric Dentistry by setting standards of training and education as well as continuous professional development through a voluntary board certification process and maintenance of diplomate status.

It provides the standards for and accredits Pediatric Dentistry programs. It reviews and validates credentials of diplomates annually.

Objectives
The objectives of the PBPD are to:
- provide and maintain the standards for the practice of pediatric dentistry in the Philippines
- review and validate the credentials of specialists in pediatric dentistry
- be the sole credentialing body in examining qualified applicants for diplomate in Pediatric Dentistry
- provide the standards and accredit formal Pediatric Dentistry programs
- keep a registry of credentialed specialists and diplomates
